Dissertation: Characterizing the ecological patterns and evolutionary histories of cryptic ectoparasites of coral reef fish: a molecular genetics approach.
Bio: Andres completed his BSc. at the University of Washington, Seattle, his MSc. at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands and is currently based at CIBIO-InBIO at the University of Porto. His research interests are on characterizing the mechanisms that shape biodiversity within and among tropical marine taxa using a combination of molecular tools and ecological methods. The main focus of his PhD is on characterizing the ecology and evolutionary history of cryptic parasites of reef fish using population genetics, comparative phylogeography and phylogenetic techniques.
